Order of the Black Knights

The saviours of the weak, the scourge of tyranny-they proclaimed to all of Japan that they will stand for the innocent, and give power to those who suffer from cheats and abusers of authority. To pursue their cause-the leader, Zero-absorbs the might of other rebellious organizations and become the ultimate resistance against Britannia. From busting illegal shipments of a harmful drug to rescuing hostages from terrorists, Zero and his Black Knights take on the role of self-proclaimed servers of justice. Yet, how can these vigilantes judge others when what they're doing is lawless in principle?

Order of Black Knights rankings (mild spoilers):
Supreme commander of military forces: Toudou Kyoshiro
Chief Intelligence Commisioner: Ried Diethard
Second-in command: Ougi Kaname
Head of research and development: Rakshata Chawla
Leader of Unit Zero (honour guard): Kozuki Karen (aka Karen Stadfeld)
Plus individual units and a Second Special Operations Unit

Japanese Liberation Front

Comprised of remnants of Japan's military, JLF is a primary resistance force, whose strength is steadily disintegrated by Britannia's military might. Unlike the Black Knights, JLF is openly at war against Britannia. With the backing of the Kyoto Group (see below), JLF hopes to oust Britannia and reclaim the land for the Japanese. With the stubborn, unyielding leadership of General Katase and outdated Knightmares (with the exception of Commander Todou and his elites), it's only a matter of time before JLF falls once and for all, beginning with their base at Narita mountain.

Kyoto

The Kyoto Group is a devilishly wry syndicate, even more so than the Order of the Black Knights. Outwardly, they're doing business with Britannia and maintaining Japan's largest Sakuradite (energy source) resource. Inwardly, they financially back the most prominent resistance groups within Japan, including the Japan Liberation Front (see above). They are the ones responsible for providing advanced new Knightmares to support the Japanese forces. The president of the Kyoto Group, Kirihara, was a member of the Kururugi Administration, and is now seen by the Japanese as a traitor, where in fact, he really is a sheep in wolf's clothing.
The Kyoto 6 houses are deeply affiliated with the former Japanese administration, and were regarded very highly as such, almost like royal houses. However, since the Britannian invasion, the Kyoto 6 houses have symbolic power only, and have very little authoritative voice. Kaguya is a leader of her house (it is implied that she is the last surviving descendant), though, she is treated with only a sparing amount of respect. Kirihara is most likely a leader of a house as well.

Ashford Academy

School festivals, student council, clubs and dorms! The best part of student life is being at the private and prestigious Ashford Academy. The Ashfords have a long history-it is the late Marianne Vi Britannia's maiden household and they even designed an old Knightmare model called the Ganymede. The Ashfords had strong ties with the royal family, but since Marianne's death, their relationship has grown stale, and the Ashfords hope to renew kinship with the royal family by marriage (yet again). Their latest candidate is no other than the president of student council, Milly Ashford, granddaughter of the school administrator. Ashford Academy is also harbouring a supposedly-deceased runaway, namely Lelouch and Nunnally Lamperouge. Not out of mercy, mind you, but for the convenience of fitting into Britannian favour if ever Lelouch's princely title were reinstated.
Alas, how charming life is for an Ashford Academy student. But, oh, you need to be of Britannian blood to receive schooling there. A bit of a downer, isn't it?

The Britannian Empire

If the British Empire never ceased to expand back in the spur of history, perhaps this would have been the outcome of its vastness. The Britannian Empire-originating, ironically, somewhere in the eastern coast of the U.S.-spreads its formidable army far and wide to overcome and control resource-rich countries (such as the sakuradite in Japan). Within the Britannian dogma, even amongst members of the royal family, only the fittest survive, and the weak is weeded out. The few with the greatest undeniable authority include the sons, daughters, and the emperor himself, of the royal family. Their reign is fearsome to behold. All hail Britannia!
