What makes Code Geass so appealing to anime fans? How about these: a simple premise for war that challenges your sense of morality, a well-written script, positively indulging characters including a strong supportive cast, and action, action, action, with bits of logical unravelling worthy of a detective novel. It's all about an anime that can run high on production values, tease the brain yet still be highly entertaining and filled with eye-candy.

Wildarmsheero may beg to differ in what I call: pointing out the stereotypes.

After a short 2-day hiatus, Code Knightmare is back online! I'd never thought it would happen, but the site exceeded its bandwidth on April 29. Luckily, May was around the corner, so activity has resumed once again.

A new section of the site has been put up where you can browse through the multiple, high-quality magazine scans of character sketches. So instead of having to go through the nitty gritty depths of cyberspace, our capable staff here will brave the task-all you have to do is stay with us. Thanks for your support, there will be more updates soon!

Adult Swim had a premiere of the first episode on their site, one that I just didn't understand how to acces. Well, that's what youtube is for! I haven't been this impressed with a dub since Fullmetal Alchemist! Fawning and adoration aside, sit back, relax, and enjoy this four part stream!

With the onset of Adult Swim airing the first episde tomorrow (1:30am with repeat 4:30am Eastern), a grand total of not one, not two, but THREE previews have been released to whet your thirst. These videos thrust the talents of Johnny Young Bosch (Lelouch) and Yuri Lowenthal (Suzaku) into the spotlight, but we also get a helping of Liam O'Brien (Lloyd) and Deborah Sale Butler (Cecile). Casting a wide net of DVDs

Unusually popular anime will prompt unusual marketing strategies. Case in point of Bandai Entertainment, who, at New York Comic Con, made an announcement about future dubbed DVDs for season 1. The first DVD will be made available in the US on August 5th, 2008. Since April 26th is Adult Swim's official air date, it's expected for DVDs to be released a few months after. Yet, the surprise of the way the DVDs will be packaged can only be evidence of how promising the Code Geass dub could be. Bundled goodness awaits after the jump!

Lelouch is back!

Any casual fan of anime must have been rejoicing in Japan yesterday, when R2 made its explosive debut on the airwaves. Half a day later, the rest of the world cheers, as fansubs begin to pop up all over internet-land. I hitched a ride on veohtv for a half-hour of bliss. Action-packed and reminisicent, you definitely don't want to miss Turn 1: The Day the Demon Awakens. Hit the jump for a breakdown of the first four episodes and their Japanese run dates.

Code Geass R2 has officially started!

Finally its here!
It aired just a few hours ago on japanese television, and from what i've seen so far, it looks great.
One great thing about R2 is that it is also in brand spanking new High Definition! I'm glad about this, seeing as the first season was only standard definition.
Anyway, no signs of subs yet, obviously, seeing as it not long aired.

Parade of the new characters

Without spoilers, I can say that there are a number of new characters in R2. An eccentric new breed of Bitannian Knights aside, there's also a figure of Chinese heritage.

Orange Range has no female members

As far as I know, Orange Range has no female vocals. As far as I know, that still holds true. After hearing their new opening, titled O2, for R2, my belief remains firm.

Not their best work, but imagine the animation that would run with it!

It seems like Orange Range is dominating the next season, as they will also host the ending theme, called Shiawase neiro, for which I don't have a translation for!

Airing date and time on Adult Swim

With little more than 3 weeks to go for R2's first episode, and a month left for Adult Swim to air the first dubbed episode, it's easy to get excited and jump around lots. Bandai Entertainment, in charge of distributing its anime products, have announced that the dub will air on Adult Swim at 1:30AM Pacific on April 26th. So that's a Saturday morning. It's a bit of a crappy time slot-I'm justified to say that Code Geass isn't any more offensive or violent than...Family Guy or Ghost in the Shell. I expect Code Geass to be the underdog, then, to rise up over everything else Adult Swim has to offer and steal their more popular time slots while beating them over the head with a Slash Harken.

Question of the day: How do YOU pronounce 'Geass'? Is it 'Gee-S'? 'Gay-Us'? 'Gi-S'?
